Why are People Homeless?
There are many reasons why people are
homeless. Many causes add to the reasons why people are
homeless. Studies have shown the causes of homelessness to be
divided into two broad categories. The first reason why people
are homeless is due to the macro factor of structural or
economic problems affecting the entire nation. The second
reason why people are homeless is due to individual
circumstances, the micro factor.
The macro factor explaining why people are
homeless

Some people
explain that the cause of homelessness is due
to lack of sufficient government funds for the
poor. For example, the lack of low income
housing or unemployment benefits or help can
cause people to become homeless. The second set
of people, however, think otherwise about
the cause of homelessness and why people are
homeless.

The micro factor explaining why people are homeless
Another side of the story of why people are
homeless is due to themselves. Homeless people are often lazy,
irresponsible, on drugs or alcohol, have gambling problems and
so forth. For these homeless people, the reasons why they are
homeless lie within their own actions and nothing to do with
the macro factor of government funding. Granted that there are
some homeless people who are diligent, hard working, and are
homeless because of some misfortune or victims of bad decisions
or scams.
With the two main factors why people are
homeless in mind, both types of help are needed to help the
homeless people. The government needs to step up its programs
to help the homeless get back on their feet as well as help
them psychologically. There are reasons why people are homeless
but some can be helped and avoided.
