The population of homeless youth in America is large. Homeless youth problem in America is a serious one. Among homeless people, homeless youth tends to have more problems such as medical, emotional and behavioral problems. Unlike homeless adults and homeless families or even homeless kids, homeless youth tends to hide themselves from society, living in the dark. So, not much is known about homeless youth.

What does it mean to be homeless youth?

We know exactly what the terms homeless people, homeless families, homeless women, and homeless kids mean but homeless youth can have different meanings. It is quite difficult to actually define homeless youth. Homeless youth often refers to youth who spent at least one night on the streets or in a homeless shelter. Youth can also be considered homeless youth if they are all by themselves without guidance from families or parents.

Homeless youth are often between the age of 12 and 17. Anyone homeless person younger than 12 will be considered a homeless kid, rather than homeless youth. Anyone older than 17 will be called a homeless person or homeless teen. Homeless youth are often more at risk than homeless people because they are at the age where anything can change. The methods used to estimate the number of homeless youth in America has been widely debated. However, the most accurate homeless youth statistics show that there is a large number of homeless youth in both America and all over the world. The number of homeless youth in America ages 12-17 is estimated at over a million people.
