Food stamps are available from the food stamp program by the Social Security Administration. The purpose of food stamps and the food stamp program is to help low-income people, including homeless people, buy food. The food stamp program is a federal government program but it is run by state or local agencies offering their own version of food stamps. Hence, there are many food stamp programs run by each state and local agencies.

In order to receive food stamp benefits, you need to apply for food stamps and the food stamp program. Fill out the food stamp application form and send in to the food stamp office. Then you will be interviewed by the food stamp representative if you meet the food stamp qualification. Applying for food stamps is easy but you must be eligible to receive food stamps to gain benefits. Even when you qualify for food stamps, you will still face the challenge of living on food stamps.
